Three simple areas that may help improve your boat speed. How are you doing them?

You can take your paddle and attack the water with it, straining every muscle in your body, throwing up rooster tails behind you.

Or you can slice your blade into the water, anchoring it solidly and using your entire torso, pulling it smoothly and evenly with much better results.

This is an excerpt I came across years ago when I was studying on the waka ama course with Matahi Brightwell in Gisborne.

It really stood out to me and made sense.  I was trying to damn hard!

Like with anything new, you go hundy because you are just so excited and in to it, so I get that.

If you are wanting to improve your paddling, before you start trying all the technique tricks under the sun or buying a lighter more streamlined canoe here are a couple of things you should check first.

  • Are you getting a good catch?

I talk about getting a good catch a lot! It’s the start of your stroke, and if you don’t got that you got nothing.   What is a good catch? Making sure you enter the blade nice and clean, anchoring your paddle at a positive angle.  There are two angles you can use, 45 or 90. Obviously a 45 degree angle will give you more of a power phase.  It will help you to lift the boat. But, then you need to think about maintenance once the boat is up and running and that’s where the 90 degree angle can come in handy.  Just when you thought it was a one stroke fits all huh?  The kind of strokes you use will all depend on your fitness, body type and what you can maintain.  But I won’t go there right now as it’s a big enough topic on its own.

  • Are you holding the catch?

Now you have the catch, you are supposed to hold that pressure through your stroke. A catch on its own is not enough.  Don’t let it slip.

  • Are you getting a smooth exit?

Once you have released the pressure on the blade (this should be once the paddle is by your hip usually, just before it moves to a negative angle) you need to pull it out in a way that does not disrupt the glide of your canoe.  Many will just rip it out, but you want to let it pop out on its own, effortlessly.

Check these three things, adjust accordingly and your boat speed should definitely pick up.  Always try working on yourself before jumping into the easy option, and often more costly options for improvements.  This is where the real stuff is and will make the difference on the line when you decide you are all in.

Give yourself permission to make mistakes – lessons from Aito Tahiti

As I positioned myself on the start line I was overwhelmed with feelings of fear.

It was in that moment I realised I hadn’t thought about my race plan at all, I felt pretty dumb for missing that important part.

The race start felt like forever.  That time from when the red flag goes up and then the green.  There was lots of pushing and shoving going on with paddlers trying to get the best start they could.  I remember hearing Hinatea Bernadino yelling out “given me space, give me space”.  She ended up paddling out and right around to the side to reset.  I know there was at least one other wave of paddlers behind me.

After one paddler had pushed her way through she grabbed my ama in an attempt to better position herself.  My first thought was that I wanted to slap her upside the head but my better self showed up and thought I would show her in the race whose boss.

It was a gnarly start, kind of like dodgems with canoes crashing right in front of me.  I had a feeling to just stay back because I didn’t want to flip, it proved to be the right thing to do as a gap opened up in front of me after the carnage.  However it meant that I had a lot of ground to try and make up.  I took my opportunity and booted it out of there.

By this time I knew I was a wee way back from the front pack and lost my bearings.  I decided to just focus on me and making every stroke count.

I pulled away from the pack I was in and was making small gains picking off paddlers one by one.  I had two other paddlers flank me for most of the course.  It was a head wind on the way up to the first turn marker, but there were little bumps that I was able to capitalise on pushing me in front of the other two.

As we neared the half way mark I started to notice some of the other paddlers, our top NZ paddlers, I could see Vesna, Mari and Marama and I got all excited.  I realised then I had to try to make up as much ground as possible before the turn as once they round the marker it’s all downwind and trying to catch someone on a downwind is pretty hard if they are on a roll.

I passed one more paddler before the marker and then the whole race changed.

As soon as I got around the turn marker the water was heavy, and all over the place.  I realised I hadn’t had much to drink either.  I didn’t want to risk stopping and have someone pass me.

Just over half way back down the reef my thoughts wandered to the paddler in front of me.  It was Marama Elkington, one of our top NZ junior and opens paddlers.  I could see her getting closer and closer but then I started to feel like crap.  I had made up a little refuel drink for me to take about 6 kms from the finish but again I couldn’t bring myself to taking it.  The internal chatter started.  I was thinking about all the stuff I should have done, had I done enough, who was I to think I should be there, and be up there with these other awesome paddlers.

I started to feel tired, but not my body, my brain, and then the two paddlers who had flanked me most of the race were gaining on me and ended up passing me.  We were at the end of the surf run by now and rounding the last turn, I took the inside right along the reef and it was the heaviest feeling ever.  To my right, Tui MCCaull had taken a wider line and she just zoomed by.  My brain was so tired by now I wasn’t quick enough to make any good decisions so just kept paddling hard to the finish line which was only about 500m away!  Within 10 minutes I had gone from being in 7th place to 9th!

I was just grateful I made it over the line and that I managed to come in where I did.  And that was 9th out of 36 paddlers in my division and 16th overall out of 80 women paddlers.

In reflection I had so many what ifs but since then have come to recognise all the learning in the lead up to the race and after.

The week leading up to the race was pretty stressful, in the sense I was in a different country, it was hot, and my baby was really sick.  I had spent most nights sleepless trying to comfort her through the night.  There was also a lot of stress around from having my whole whanau there and whanau expectations.  More lessons that I will share later on.  These are all important things I know I need to share because these days there are more mama taking on the challenge of being an elite athlete and we are faced with a whole other set of challenges that will only make us stronger.

So many things I could have done better but I’m happy in knowing I went out there, did a pretty good job and are now hungry for more.  Its given me a taste and glimpse of what is possible and I am now on a mission to make that happen.

And that is to be the best paddler I can be because I know by doing that it will create a snowball effect of so many health and wellness benefits for me and my whanau.  It’s unlimited potential! Who knows where it may lead?

Top five mistakes novice paddlers make when they start out

“Just get in and follow the person in front of you” they said.  sound familiar?

Yep that was my intro to waka ama too.   I’ve learned a lot by trial and error since then but the biggest thing I had to do was unlearn all the bad habits I had picked up from coaches along the way.   I have spent the last two years going back over my stroke, breaking it down into fundamentals and basically start over.  Through that I picked up some key areas I notice other novice paddlers make or are still making.  There is more than just five but I have focussed on some key ones I think are important in getting a good start.

1.  Many paddlers don’t get a good catch.

There are many paddlers, who instead of starting with a good catch by getting a good angle on the blade, they are pulling before the blade is buried.  This makes the stroke inefficient and reduces the potential for glide of a canoe and speed.

They usually have a negative angle, meaning blade enters the water after 90 degrees, after the power phase, which pushes the canoe down reducing glide.

They usually pull the paddle before it is planted.  This can look like the wheels are spinning, or feel like it’s really easy to pull through the water, meaning you actually haven’t grabbed much water so won’t be going far.

They also do a double movement at the catch.  Something I used to be guilty of until recently.  And it came down to my interpretation of what was most important, or what I was taught about catch.  Told to spear it like a fish and then push and pull. Sequence is important in a stroke and making sure everything is engaged together to push, pull and drive together really is as hard as it sounds.

2.  Top arm elbow is too high.

I don’t normally get caught up in exactly where peoples areas and legs should be except when it comes down to efficiency and injury prevention.

Many paddlers when starting out flare their elbow out above their head to try and get reach.  This opens up the shoulder and rotator cuff to extreme pressure and potential injury and also limits the application of power production. Its best to keep your elbow below your shoulder to make the most of your power.

A good way to tell if you elbow is too high, have a look at your shadow.   Or if you are starting to feel discomfort in your shoulder area this could be why.

3.  Many novice paddlers suffer from the death grip

They hold the paddle too tight.  When I first started paddling I used to get really sore forearms.  I learnt pretty quickly it was because of my grip.

It is important to keep a relaxed grip on your paddle to avoid blowing up your forearm muscles.  Staying relaxed helps you to recover in your recovery phase of the stroke.

4.  Most beginners lean on the ama making the canoe tippy.

I know as a beginner is really easy to just lean left, especially when the ama lifts a little. The thing is you need to get used to being comfortable with the uncomfortable and balance your posture.  When the ama lifts everyones first reaction is to lean left, and then the ama usually jerks right and hello huli!

It also reduces the glide of your canoe.  Try sitting more balanced, so weight across both cheeks and use your core. This sets you up for so much more efficient paddling in the long run and less injuries.

5.  Most new paddlers just jump in the waka and go.

This I believe is partly due to the club culture, but at some point there needs to be a connection with your surroundings, other paddlers, the water, and whats going on around you.  There are hints to help you perform better in the natural environment, as corny as it may sound it’s totally true.   I see it all the time with people who are new to the ocean, they attack the water instead of falling into its natural flow.

Ok so now what?

You can’t fix something if you don’t know its broke so have a look and analyse where you are at first.  The best way to work out if you are doing these things is to ask your coach, or someone you can trust to be honest with you.  Otherwise get someone to film you and give you the proof.

Confession time – Showing up as my true self isn’t always easy

Having courage to stand out.

That feeling you get when you are so excited about something, but nervous at the same time of how people will react.

That was me about a week ago.

I was at a writers workshop (to get me in my zone for my book, thesis), when the writing prompts we were given brought gave me an epiphany ( I seem to have these a lot this year).

It suddenly dawned on me that everything I have studied over the years, taught in school, uni and through the wananga as well as my time as a public health advocate, were all pointing to one thing – sports psychology.

When I was living in Australia back in my teens I wanted to come back to NZ and study psychology, its always interested me.  But my pull to do sports was stronger and I ended up doing a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation first.  It was in my undergrad years that I got a taste of sports psych and learned a lot of simple tools around how to excel in sports and why some athletes don’t.  And I got to cover this again in my post grad papers and coaching.  However I left it at that and went on to explore other areas.

There are lessons in everything we do.

I’ve played representative sport most of my life to a high level but I always used to ‘choke’ when it really mattered.   Choking is when an athlete focuses too much on the future outcome and the negative thoughts create that emotional reaction resulting in them choking.

I soon began to realise that I did this off the field too, in life, when I had big things going, important things.

Getting back to how showing up as me isn’t always easy, well, it takes guts to step out on your own and speak your own truth, anyone knows that.  So when I had this thought about what I should be focussing on, combining my strengths as a paddler with my education it made sense, but I had that little voice in my head saying “who are you to think that” and “what makes you so special”, my ego was really doing a doozy on me.

Love and kindness

I’m lucky I am now surrounded by some very seriously strong ambitious women who see how lifting others up helps lift us all and they reminded me to kick the mind chatter and that I got this.

So I decided to hone in my skills and focus on working with paddlers.  I made a name change from Mindset Trainer for women to Paddlers!

One simple word has the power to change so much.  It really is true.  Since doing this I have had lots of activity happening, posts, likes, comments and paddlers reaching out asking for me to work with them on mindset as they have seen with their own eyes my own transformation and progression in my paddling.

What I truly know for sure is we teach through experience, and if you have the knowledge to go with that then thats a bonus isn’t it.

I’m only just beginning.

All this work I’ve done on my self development, and I still have trouble stepping up into my truth.  But thats life right, forever learning, new challenges, new growth.  It’s the evolutionary journey of transformation.

Now that I have come full circle I can see where all my past experiences fit and I am totally making it work for me.  No regrets, just gratitude for the learning I have had. When I have those days where I feel unsure about showing up in my totality I remind myself of why I am doing this, and that is because I have a story to tell and feel deep in my heart that there is someone else out there on a similar journey that needs to hear it so that they too can step up and then pay it forward to others.  In the hope that we all end up living this life as our best selves in what ever it is we choose.

My top 6 High performance mindset hacks for everyday life

What if you approached each day with intent and purpose just as elites do, rather than waking up into ground hog day.  And brought out your inner champion in your life or business?

If your first thoughts are,

because its hard work,

I don’t have time

Well, then sorry dear you are in the wrong place so should probably stop reading.

 

Still here?

Then sweet, you are on the right track to making your dreams come true.

Elite athletes have drive, determination, focus and ambition, much the same as anyone who is passionate about what they do.  It makes sense to apply the same logic to your life or business as they do to their sport.  I mean, why wouldn’t you right?

Here’s my tips on having a high performance mindset. Give them a bash and see what is possible for you.

  • be you first.  When you are strong in who you are and your identity opportunities open up to you.  This is where confidence comes from.
  • have a plan or goal. This gives focus and will be your anchor when you hit those tough days.
  • visualise it, athletes use mental imagery a lot to create realness around your goal.  visualise the process, not just the end goal. Visualise how you feel, what the environment is like so that you are prepared mentally and your session plays out as you wish.
  • Take action, daily.  Its the daily act of showing up that matters. it doesn’t always have to be physically, but you do have to pay some attention to your goal daily even if its resting or planning, something that keeps in the front of your mind.
  • Have balance, so learn when rest is needed.  Without sleep our body cannot grow and neither can our mind.  Its just as important as good nutrition and hydration so make sure you do this.
  • seek help or guidance when needed from a coach.  How many top athletes do you know got their on their own? Seriously?  You will always find someone has been at their side at some stage.  A coach is able to offer unbiased, real time feedback and give you that accountability boot when it gets hard and you start to slack off.
  • Attitude. The kind of attitude you approach your goals with will determine the outcome. So if you want good things to happen you need to think good things. Learn how to rewire your brain and mindset to produce positive verbal and body language and thats what you will receive.

Three hacks to finding more time to do the things that light you up!

Hey babe,

You are either reading this because you value your time and will do anything to try and find more of it.  Or you are at a loss as to how other people are able to fit so much into their day.

Lets start with time itself. What are your first thoughts or feelings when you hear that word?

I usually get my back up and then my eyes glaze over.

You know why?

Because it seems to be all people talk about today, like it is the single most important commodity that drives humans.

I felt like I didn’t have a hope in hell of finding more time to do what I needed to and wanted to so shut off completely.

Until I stumbled across this great book I was given years ago but just never had the time to read. Well, I sat down and read it one day, from cover to cover.  It set me off on my journey to making things work better for me, by finding other people who seemed like they knew what they were doing and trying it for myself.

This is what has worked for me.

1.  Get a goal, a clear focus or dream.  Something to use as an anchor everyday.

By having a goal it helps you to have focus and prioritise what you need to do and love to do as opposed to all the shady little great areas in between where we worry about this and that.  It is in this space that we actually waste a lot of our precious time.

2.  Shred the task list and instead work to intentions.  This one totally blew my mind. My business coach gave me this wee tool and it is the single most life changing thing that has helped me across the board. I used to get overwhelmed by task lists and had everything on there that I needed to complete, well so I thought.  The thing is, those tasks were still taking up precious head space even after writing them down. They were staring at me daily and if I didn’t get to ticking them off that day I would feel like crap and useless.  Now I focus on only 3 intentions a day, (not including housework because that is a given and autopilot to some degree, they don’t take up head space).  I list my top 3 activities that I know will get me the most gains in my day toward my goal and anything else I get done after that is a bonus.  It really stops me from fluffing about.

3.  Take action, everyday and use the 5 sec rule.  So yes we all know that taking action is pretty logical right, but what about when you just don’t want to? Thats where the 5 sec rule comes in. I had been doing this all my sporting life but didn’t realise it until I came across Mel Robins Tedtalk on the 5 sec rule.  Basically she says  you have 5 secs to make a decision because after that all of your excuses get the better of you. So nip it in the mud before it even gets a chance. My way to combat this is to remove as many of the excuses as possible, like preparation, of meals or gear I need to get going, or making sure I have all the right information. Its too easy to make an excuse if we have one little piece of the puzzle not at our finger tips right.

All these little hacks have helped me to be way more productive leaving me more energised and just happy which makes me a better person to be around for my kids and family.

The secret to making shit work for you!

Psst! I have stumbled onto something pretty damn amazing.

EVERYONE HAS THE POWER TO MANIFEST!

Seriously.

It’s just most people don’t know what to manifest

Or they are so caught up in their daily grind all they manifest is their woes.

Why?

Because where you focus your intention, energy flows. It’s as simple as that.

Most people these days are like “what are you doing that rubbish for?”, as if manifesting was some woo woo, crazy talk kind of thing.

The thing is I believe the word manifest has had a bad rap, possibly because its been abused and misused over the years and people have tried and failed not really understanding whats involved or needed to make it happen.  It’s not a secret pill that will give you a quick fix, unless you have your shit sorted out.

To manifest simply means to ‘demonstrate’ or as an adjective its means ‘obvious, blatant’.

When you unpack it like that it doesn’t seem so scary and out of touch right.

Now, the key to making shit happen for yourself is these three things.

  1. HAVE A DREAM.  Work out what it is you want.  Most people can’t make shit happen because they don’t know what they want. Or worse, they don’t think they are deserving of anything more.
  2. GET SOME SKILLS.  Work out what skills you need to attain, or acquire your goal, dream.  If its weight loss, then perhaps you need to research healthy eating, or if you are wanting to start your own business you would be best to research start ups.
  3. TAKE ACTION.  This is where most people fall over.  They say it, talk about to all their friends and family but don’t actually take action.  So you need to back it up.

Now from here to really manifest the shit out of this you need to journal your heart out.  Write your vision, using all of your senses, what does it look like, smell like, sound like, feel like? Get as much detail as possible into it so you can really feel like you are there already.

Journal as if it has happened already.  And journal how it would make you feel.  If this dream of yours come to fruition, what would that mean for you? For your family?   What wold you do? What can you do now to start the process?  Can you see where I am heading? Can you feel that? Those vibes it’s creating?

It can be real and you can make it happen if you believe it.  Now the final disclosure, you can manifest whatever you want with good intention. Universal law revolves around good intention so if you come from a space of positivity and light it will have your back.

Now, if you have done all theses steps and its still not showing up you obviously have some limiting beliefs holding you back.  It can be challenging delving into what these may be and people usually won’t because they are afraid of what they will uncover. Hence the reason why most people manifest the daily grind.

But, if you know in your gut that you are playing small and really want to achieve those dreams you were too scared to pursue, and can commit to taking the action required then there is hope.

Some simple strategies for those days when you just don’t want to adult.

I’ve spent my entire adult life and a good chunk of my childhood battling good days and bad days.

I used to lie in bed till at least 12 o’clock on most days. I had got to a point where I just wasn’t functioning properly anymore and my business, family life and sanity were all paying for it.

There were days where I would wake up and feel like I was just on the wrong side of the bed, usually accompanied by a headache or more common for me (a migraine).

I remember the migraines were intense.  So much so I had to literally lock myself in the bedroom and pull the blinds for total blackout because the light would hurt my eyes and then my head.

I also remember I used to get these migraines after a full weekend away tutoring my students, or when a huge amount of energy was required of me.

I’d wake up, and tell myself its best I go back to bed or it will get worse.

It wasn’t until I realised what was happening. I was starting to see how frail I had become.  I was so out of whack physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually that I just could not function.

I remember how I used to feel and how I could just get up and go and was so fit and strong, and it just made me feel worse.

I knew I had to change something because what I was doing, was not working.

I had to sort my eating because that was pretty poor, mostly no brekkie, or I wouldn’t eat till 11am most days.  And then the rest of the day was pretty random too. By the time I was hungry I would grab the high carb sugary foods like cereals or toast and other processed foods to fill the gap.  That would only make me feel worse.

I also use to just sit in front of the TV all the time and got to know Dr Phil pretty well (lol).

Eventually that little soft-spoken voice inside got cloudier and I decided to do something because I couldn’t live like this.  I was always sick with migraines, colds, I got shingles, and my body was just breaking down with injuries.

I woke up one day and decided that today was the day to start new and reset.

I worked on getting rid of all the unhealthy habits I had settled with and replacing them with healthy ones.  Like eating food as close to its original form as possible, cutting our refined sugars, and no more processed foods (as much as possible).  I also cut out adding dressings because that’s where a lot of sugar likes to hide.

I made a point of focussing on my movements better and not just thrashing my body till it felt numb to escape the boring of my life and pain at the time. I started to enjoying what I was doing again got back out in the water.

I also did a lot of work on me, internally, the self-care stuff.  I never really got the “stare at yourself in the mirror” thing. It just never worked, until I had actually looked beyond the superficial. Once I realised my potential again, and the power I have when I set my heart to it, I just got goosebumps, and when I looked in the mirror again I saw something different in me, I looked brighter, my “eyes were up” and I felt love.  Sounds cheesy maybe but it’s exactly how it played out for me.

I started to use only positive words, and love when I spoke and this in turn changed my body language too and my posture.  I shifted the negative self talk that was controlling me and now I navigate from my heart as I was meant to.

But one of the key things I did and continue to do is #jfdi.  If there is something I need to do I get it done without thinking about it so hard because it’s that point where ego comes in with the negative mind chatter and then all of a sudden, back on the couch!

 

I used this with my headaches to and those days when I feel super tired and just can’t adult.  I ask myself “what am I resisting’ and then the answer will usually come and I realise it’s just me slipping back into old habits.  Within half an hour my headache disappears.

What I know for sure is that if we don’t deal with the emotions and feelings we have inside of us they present in our body physically so that we have to take notice.  So if we can take back control internally we can heal ourselves.  I still have days where I feel super tired and want to blob but that’s when I ask myself what am I feeling? And then I realise I have possibly been doing something that doesn’t sit right with me which is why I feel drained.  The awareness is the key to moving forward. Without that we are stuck.

A lovely woman I recently met said to me “its like a clear day and then there is that one dark cloud, it doesnt stay there forever, it moves on”.  So should we!

You cut out sugar
You cut out fat,
You cut out alcohol,
All your fave foods and decide to live off salads and beans perhaps?
You actually been doing really well and being strict on yourself.
Your will power is pumping.
And then a month in something happens at work that really pisses you off,
Or someone in the family has come down with a really bad sickness
And you just feel tired, maybe a bit overwhelmed and then all of a sudden you haven’t just eaten one piece of chocolate, you ate the whole bar along with the tub of ice cream!
You see, there is a lot more to it than just the food intake and energy output.
To make your efforts lasting you need to make sure you are looking at what your current habits are, and what triggers them.

Deal with the bigger picture stuff.
Stop avoiding it or it will always come back and bite you harder.
Get clear on where you want to head and why and then put in place daily healthy habits to make it happen!

Are you having one of THOSE days?

When things just don’t seem to be going your way.

Frustrated, anxious and even a bit angry, nah yeah, real angry.

Have you stopped to ask why?

Even more so, have you stopped to ask yourself what you are feeling?

More often than not when those days come around we are super busy, have an appointment we are late for, or a deadline we need to meet that you already went over and the kids or your spouse are just all up in your face and then you let rip!

OMG, yup, all hell breaks loose and cyclone Hiria is on the loose.

Then you feel crappy, deflated and guilty for taking it out on your family right?

Yep I’m speaking from experience here. And I have found I’m not alone in that.  The more I talk about it the more I realise that actually it is quite normal.

Yay I’m normal I hear you say, ha ha.

Right on! Now comes the tricky bit.

What you do next is what really matters. That next right move. So you exploded because of all these things. Now you need to stop and ask yourself.

What am I feeling?

Know it, feel it, see it of what it is. An emotion that has cropped up from something.  It’s not who you are.

Now ask, what am I resisting?

Because 99.9% of the time we blow up because we find ourselves in a situation we don’t want to be in, we are resisting it.  That’s when ego has jumped in and our unconscious thoughts start making up all this crap that’s not even real.

So what is it you are resisting?

Give a few moments and the answer will pop into your head.  You know what it is but you have let your ego cover it up for one reason or another.  Ego and cover ups are a whole other blog! But just quickly it’s either to do with a front you are putting up or you are letting someone else’s shit cloud your way.

As soon as you ask those little questions and the answer comes as to what you are resisting and instant calm comes over you. Clarity, free space in your head to be able to deal with the situation in that moment.

On my instagram account I shared the following example,

While out surfing with my hubby one day, I caught the last wave of the day (for me).  The swell was huge, messy and unpredictable.

I caught the wave and as I was making my bottom turn I could see I wasn’t going to make it.  I tried to quickly do my bottom turn back up the face to get some speed but the wave closed out and smash I was stuck in the washing machine.

It was a six-foot face kind of day and I got pinned down. Imagine getting tumbled over and over, water is brown with sand and dark and you can’t feel the bottom. I panicked and for a split second could not work out which way was up.

And then from out of nowhere I had this feeling, to just stop. Stop resisting and fighting the water.  I grabbed my leash and tugged it to make sure my board was still there and followed it back up. I scrambled back onto the tail and caught the next wave back in to shore.

The lesson for me was clear. Stop resisting. Resistance is a form of unconsciousness.  It clouds our judgement and survival instincts. Nature has this awesome power of showing us lessons and I believe we need to be more open to them.  From then on I have taken my lessons learned from the ocean and apply them to my daily life.

Another example,  I was in a situation where I could no longer openly talk with my boss which made things difficult as I was the manager. Any problems I would have I had to find a way to deal with them on my own. That proved difficult because the majority of the issues were due to a lack of understanding of the tasks on the bosses part when setting up the work.

There was a particular day where I had a discussion with this person and from out of know where it all went crazy. I really could not understand what was going on.

Anyway, it made me flip out at home and get stressed out. I was resisting what was going on. I got caught up in the chaos of that situation and let it affect me, and my family.

So I asked myself those two questions. When I realised what it was I was able to step back from it and look at it with a more positive lens. And with aroha. I didn’t react and make things worse for the sake of winning.

Within hours I find the situation all sorted.

So two questions to ask,

What am I feeling?

What am I resisting?

These are bound to get you back onto a path of harmony and consciousness.
